Horizon (Liu Liling)
Wordmark, key visual and exhibition booklet for Liling's solo exhibition at [hearth], Gillman Barracks.

Wordmark and Key Visual
Liling's series of works for Horizon comprise a series of inkjet prints that draw upon observations of the sky. The key visual is an artwork, overlaid with the title text lightly segmented by the refraction of the horizon.

Exhibition Booklet
I wanted to tap into the headspace of Liling's medium-based experiments (acrylic, lightboxes, etc.), and have the publication serve as an extension of the works.

Organic Grid
Liling's works embrace the visual nuances produced as a result of the printing
process.
Instead
of strict grid and margin proportioning, we let the cover artwork reveal organic markers for fold
lines,
margins and grids.
This resulted in a publication
that, when closed, leaves an off-centered gap that held space for a pale streak in the artwork.
